Akira Kurata, one of the Sparkle Campus Cuties, will release his single "Dahil Sayo" on Friday, August 15, on Spotify and other digital music platforms.
This kilig-filled track marks his first-ever single under GMA Playlist.
The rising young singer shared in an exclusive interview with GMA Network.com that the song is about dreaming of someone, or much like having a crush.
"It is a feeling na in love na in love ka sa taong 'yun," he said.
He added, "Mostly, 'yung kanta po na 'yun, hindi lang po nakaka-relate sa lyrics, but also to the instrument itself and sa tempo na nakakasayaw, and you know naman na love should be happy."
According to Akira, the feeling in the song is similar to what he feels about his happy crush, Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.
"Kahit hindi mo sila nakikita, hinahanap hanap mo sila," he shared.
Akira earned his contract with GMA Playlist as one of the awardees in Sparkle Campus Cuties.
Now, finally releasing his first-ever single, he expressed his gratitude, saying it feels like he is "one step closer to my dreams."
