Philippine band Nior recently released their new single “Giliw,” a heartfelt ode to the beauty of quiet, shared moments in a relationship.

Penned by the band’s female vocalist, Gabrielle “Gab” Van Petel, the song under AltG Records is a departure from grand gestures and focuses on the simple yet profound joy of being together. It was recently featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday and Fresh Finds Philippines.

“The song is about cherishing quiet, intimate moments with someone you deeply love,” Gab explained. “It’s a love letter to shared peace - those still, simple moments where you feel complete just by holding hands, talking, and being together.”

The inspiration for “Giliw” came from a desire to capture the essence of slowing down with a loved one. “Life gets so fast-paced, but with the right person, you can pause, breathe, and feel safe. The person you love becomes the beginning and the end of your heart’s journey,” Gab said. She drew the lyrics of the song from personal experiences and real conversations.

Through “Giliw,” the band Nior hopes to impart a simple message: love doesn’t need to be loud or complicated to be real. “Sometimes, it’s the quietest moments that carry the most meaning,” Gab added. The band wants listeners to feel a sense of warmth and comfort, “like they’re wrapped in a hug,” when they hear the song. “I want to make people smile, think of someone they love, or remember a time when they felt safe and happy,” Gab shared.
