The title, “Sunod,” plays a Filipino double meaning: representing both the chronological “next” chapter of a love story, and the submissive act of being “obedient” to someone else in a relationship.

“The song is rooted in the things I heavily want to avoid in the future,” the band’s vocalist Neth Macam shares. “It’s a plea for the next love story to be the final one.”

This sentiment culminates in the single’s most defining and heartbreaking lyric, deliberately placed at the track’s resolution: “Ang gusto ko sa susunod, wala nang susunod,” which emphasizes a desire to finally find a love that stays.
