Moonstar88 is finally back with new music!

Composed of Maychelle Baay (vocals/guitar), Jazz Jorge (bass), Herbert Hernandez (lead guitar), and Bon Sundiang (vocals/drums), Moonstar88 announced their comeback album during their gig at Playlist, sharing that their new single is called “Kape Tayo.”

"It's a really beautiful song na proud ako na kasama sa bagong album namin," Maychelle said.

The vocalist shared that the inspiration behind their new song is how coffee has become part of our daily lives.

"If you think about it, para siyang celebration ng culture of coffee in our daily life, so whether you're having a good day or a bad day, it's about, you know, spending time with someone or even sometimes just spending time on your own, just to collect yourself," she explained.

She added, "So, it's really like, 'yun 'yung isa sa mga importanteng kultura ng mga Pilipino, 'yung coffee, part siya ng everyday life natin."

Calling their comeback a "long time coming," the band expressed their excitement as they returned three years after their last album.

Meanwhile, the lead guitar shared that their music has evolved over the years.

"Nag-evolve in terms of syempre, marami kaming mga bagong influences, but 'yung maganda dito, 'yung mga bagong collaboration namin," he said.

He also shared that it is even more exciting to have the songwriter behind their hit song "Torete" back for the new album.

"Eto 'yung album na first na bumalik siya, so ito, excited kami rito," he added. "And the whole band wrote songs din, kaya nga kami naka-13 songs agad. Sobrang exciting and relaxed 'to 'no."

Adding a little bit of nostalgia, Maychelle highlighted that their songs have returned to "focusing on the feels of the stories of each song."

Moonstar88 released "Kape Tayo" on July 10.

The band was formed in the 1990s and is known for hits such as "Torete," "Migraine," and "Panalangin."
