Rhenz Abando leaves Letran, signs with Korean team Anyang KGC | NCAA Philippines

Rhenz Abando is bringing his act to Korea.

The reigning NCAA MVP has signed with Korean Basketball League (KBL) team Anyang KGC, the team announced on Thursday afternoon.

With this move, Abando will have to forgo his remaining one playing year for the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the NCAA.

Abando will now become the sixth Filipino player to suit up as an import in Korea after pioneer SJ Belangel, RJ Abarrientos, Justin Gutang, Will Navarro, and Ethan Alvano.

Abando, 24, has proven his worth many times as he led the Knights to a season sweep of NCAA Season 97 to give the school an elusive back-to-back titles. Prior to his transfer to NCAA, the 6-foot-2 high-flyer also steered University of Santo Tomas to the UAAP Season 82 finals.

Abando also joined Gilas Pilipinas in the third window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers as well as the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.
