After upset loss to EAC, Benilde coach Charles Tiu plans to be more strict on Blazers: 'They've been abusing my kindness' | NCAA Philippines

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde head coach Charles Tiu couldn't hide his disappointment as the Blazers were dealt an 80-75 upset loss by a previously winless Emilio Aguinaldo College side on Sunday.

For Tiu, his Blazers simply lacked the effort and hustle against the Generals, who were in nothing-to-lose mode after an 0-9 slate prior to their match.

"I’m just telling the guys, we have a whole week to prepare for EAC, we know we're gonna play them. This is their third game, and still they came out with more energy than us," said Tiu.

"So, I don’t know, I’m disappointed."

Moving forward, though, the coach plans to be more strict with his players.

"I’ve been too nice to these guys. I let them get away with a lot of things, give them a lot of freedom. And when you give that freedom, you expect responsibility, sabi ni Spiderman ba 'yun?" the Benilde coach said.

"But they haven’t been – I think they’ve been abusing our kindness. So yeah, ganon talaga."

Despite his team still sitting at the top of the standings with a 7-2 record, Tiu remains cautious as he reminded of the school's past heartbreaks in previous seasons.

"But as I’ve said we haven’t achieved anything. We’ve seen CSB collapse so many times, and anything can happen."
