Mapua legends come home, top Cardinals moments listed down on ‘Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96’ | NCAA Philippines

Mapua University is not only a home to topnotch engineers and technology experts but it has also produced world-class athletes.

On the latest episode of 'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96', Gab Yabut, a rising Kapuso actor and a proud Mapua alumnus, did a rundown of top 10 iconic sports moments of the school which included the 2004 cheerleading championship by the Mapua Cheerping Cardinals and the Mapua’s general championship back in 1960.

He also listed down some famous sportsmen hailing from Mapua like chess grandmaster Eugene Torre, former NCAA MVP Kelvin dela Peña, and long jump king Henry Dagmil.

In a Zoom interview with host Martin Javier, dela Peña, the 15th overall pick during the 2008 PBA Rookie Draft, shared how he was introduced to sport and to the Mapua men’s basketball team.

Meanwhile, noted coaches Chito Victolero and Joel Banal, both of whom are proud alumni of Mapua, visited the show to share how the institution taught them to value the sport.
