Collegiate sports training set to resume with signing of CHED-DOH memo | NCAA Philippines

Training for college student-athletes may start soon as the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) signed a joint memorandum circular with the Department of Health (DOH) which allows the resumption of training for varsity teams.

CHED, DOH, and members of collegiate leagues such as the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines had the ceremonial signing of the joint memorandum circular on Monday in Emilio Aguinaldo College.

According to a report by Super Radyo DZBB's Manny Vargas, CHED chair Prospero de Vera thanked DOH and the schools for complying with the guidelines.

DOH secretary Francisco Duque III said the resumption of the training will be a big help for the mental health of the students. He also reminded the schools to follow health protocols, especially amid the threat of the emergence of the new Omicron variant.

Last November, CHED conducted an inspection of the schools' sports facilities.
