Gorayeb says San Sebastian will 'bite the bullet' as Lady Stags drop to 0-4 | NCAA Philippines

After San Sebastian's dismal start in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament, head coach Roger Gorayeb said they will take whatever will be dealt to them as the season progresses.

The struggling Lady Stags remain on the hunt of a win after losing to Mapua University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, San Beda University, and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

"Hindi ko alam," Gorayeb told GMA News Online when asked about their plans in the remaining games. "Kasi napakabigat sa NCAA, one round lang, 'pag natatalo ka, nawawala 'yung chance mo."

"Bite the bullet, ganun na lang 'yan. May sugat na, napapatakan pa ng asin eh 'di ang hapdi," added Gorayeb.

(I don't know. It's challenging in the NCAA that it's only one round. If you lose, your chances also get slimmer. Just bite the bullet. There's wound already but salt is still being added so it's more painful.)

In San Sebastian's loss to Benilde, the Lady Stags had a bright spot as it recovered from trailing early in the second set but eventually handed the Lady Blazers their first set defeat in the season.

However, the story changed in the next two sets as the usually dominant Benilde emerged again.

"Kung gugustuhin nila 'yun, kaya nila. Lamang ang Benilde d'un, habol-habol kami. Kaso pagdating nung third set, lumabas 'yung talagang isip (mindset) nila."

(If they wanted it, they could get it. Benilde was leading then we tried to recover. But in the third set, their mindset was on display again.)

For now, Gorayeb said they will work with what they have and hope to rely on his senior players for leadership on the court.

San Sebastian will face Arellano University next on Sunday.
