Osabel, Romero lead anew on both ends as EAC sweeps LPU | NCAA Philippines

Ervin Osabel and Marvin Romero once again seized control on both ends to carry Emilio Aguinaldo College to a decisive 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 win against Lyceum of the Philippines University in the NCAA Season 99 men's volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Osabel poured in 17 points anchored on 14 attacks, two blocks, and an ace spiked with four receptions, while Romero churned out 15 markers and six digs as the Generals hiked their unblemished record to 5-0.

LPU, despite displaying a gutsy fightback in the third set, still fell short of its breakthrough to drop to a winless 0-5 slate.

The Pirates were down two sets but they did not allow that deficit to take the fight out of them, showing off a retaliation in the final frame and even taking an 11-8 lead after an Osabel attack error.

However, errors from their side let the Generals unload an 8-2 rampage, regaining a 16-13 cushion before back-to-back attacks from the graduating Romero made it a 19-14 affair for the Rod Palmero-helmed squad.

Osabel then uncorked two consecutive combination plays for a 22-18 separation while he also put the finishing kill as EAC forged a two-way tie at the top with defending champion Perpetual.

Jan Abor supplied the help with nine points while Kenneth Batiancila, the leading blocker in the league so far, chipped in six markers.

LPU team captain led the Pirates with 13 points, seven digs, and seven receptions while his brother Gian Edang chimed in with eight markers.
