Razel Aldea flexes muscle as Perpetual sweeps San Sebastian, moves to joint third | NCAA Philippines

Skipper Razel Aldea dropped her best game so far in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament, steering University of Perpetual Help System DALTA to a 25-23, 27-25, 25-14 sweep against San Sebastian College-Recoletos on Friday at Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The veteran middle blocker dropped a season-high 11 points anchored on seven attacks and four blocks to help the Lady ALTAs cop their first back-to-back wins to improve to 4-2.

They are now at joint third with Mapua University and Colegio de San Juan de Letran while the Lady Stags fell to 0-6 hole.

Unlike in the past two sets, Perpetual didn't give San Sebastian any chance to make a comeback in the third with reigning MVP Mary Rhose Dapol unleashing back-to-back attacks for an 11-4 lead.

Aldea then took over the rest of the way, denying her counterpart Amaka Tan twice before the latter committed an attack error as Perpetual swung to a 17-6 cushion.

Aldea, who scored six of her overall output in the final frame, completed a quick kill while Shaila Omipon's ace sent the Las Piñas crew to a 23-12 advantage. Finishing the job was rookie Cyrille Almeniana, who put the nail in the coffin with two consecutive open attacks over the defense of Tan and Von Dimaculangan.

Omipon top-scored Perpetual with 16 points while Dapol tallied 11 markers and seven receptions to guide Perpetual to its second straight win after also escaping San Beda University last Tuesday.

Kath Santos once again led the Lady Stags with 17 points while Tina Marasigan chipped in 11 markers and seven receptions.
