Angel Habacon stars as San Beda sweeps EAC | NCAA Philippines

Angel Habacon stood out for San Beda University as the Lady Red Spikers swept Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-13, 25-22, 25-17, on Saturday in the NCAA Season 99 women's volleyball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Habacon paced the Mendiola-based squad with 16 points, while Janelle Bachar had eight points as San Beda improved to 2-4.

According to the 21-year old Habacon, their loss against University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in a five-setter inspired them to do better.

"After the game ng Perpetual, sabi ko, I did not lose hope pa rin. For me, there's something within na puwede pa talaga, puwede pa kunin 'yung goal namin na makapag-Final Four," Habacon told GMA News Online.

"Sabi ko sa sarili ko the day after, puwede pa 'to. I-clutch namin 'tong season na 'to. One game at a time lang, kaya namin 'to. Pagtrabahuhan namin and hindi namin ibibigay basta lang 'yung dream namin na makapasok sa Final Four.

Sa'kin kasi, kahit anong blurry pa 'yan, anything is possible when you believe."

(After our game against Perpetual, I did not lose hope. For me, there's something within saying we still can get it. We can still reach our goal of getting into the Final Four. I told myself the day after that we can do it and clutch it. One game at a time and we can do it. We will work hard and we will not give away it easily. For me, even if it's blurry, anything is possible when you believe.)

Cath Almazan had 14 points as the Lady Generals remained winless in six games.

EAC will face San Sebastian College-Recoletos next on Tuesday, while San Beda will go against JRU on Wednesday.
