Kyle Villamor, Joshua Espenida tow San Sebastian past JRU | NCAA Philippines

Kyle Villamor and Joshua Espenida led San Sebastian College-Recoletos past Jose Rizal University, 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, on Saturday in the NCAA Season 99 men's volleyball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Villamor and Espenida chipped in 28 points apiece, with the former having 26 attacks, while the latter had 24 attacks, two blocks, and two aces.

With the win, San Sebastian improved to 4-4 as the race to the Final Four continues. The Stags joined the logjam in the middle of the standings as it tied with Arellano University (4-4) and inched closer to Colegio de San Juan de Letran (4-3), behind undefeated teams University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and Emilio Aguinaldo College.

Kenneth Daynata had 14 points, while Bryle Alipan and Charlie Dela Cruz had 13 points each as the Heavy Bombers were eliminated from playoff contention as they slipped to 2-6.

San Sebastian will still go against Letran on Wednesday, while JRU will face Arellano on Tuesday.
