Asian Games: Suarez settles for boxing silver after falling in final

Charly Suarez settled for a silver medal finish in the men's lightweight after a split decision defeat to Mongolia's Otgondalai Dorjnyambuu to end the Philippines' boxing campaign in the Asian Games on Friday.
 
The medal increased the Philippines' silver medal haul to three, adding to the two silver medals copped by wushu artists Jean Claude Saclag and Daniel Parantac earlier in the Asiad.
 
Four out of eight Filipino boxers won medals, including Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga, Mario Fernandez, and Wilfredo Lopez, who all bagged bronze medals.
 
Other fighters Dennis Galvan and Ian Clark Bautista bowed out of medal contention after falling in the men's light welterweight round of 32 and men's flyweight round of 16, respectivel.
 
Meanwhile, female boxers Josie Gabuco and Nesthy Petecio went down in the quarterfinals of the women's flyweight and women's lightweight divisions, respectively. — JST, GMA News
