The Metro Manila traffic has improved since the setting up of fewer bus stops along major thoroughfares in the national capital, an official of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said on Sunday.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, MMDA general manager Undersecretary Jojo Garcia said that the travel time from Monumento to Cubao was reduced from over three hours to an hour.

“Ang daming debateng nangyayari na nahihirapan. Kakaunti ang stops or malayo ang stops,” Garcia said.

“Kung tutuusin mo, dati bumiyahe ka ng Monumento to Cubao, it will take you three hours or more. Ngayon, pinakamatagal na 'yung isang oras. Talagang 'yung travel time ng commuters natin malaki ang improvement ,” he said.

Garcia noted that the travel time will further improve with the completion of ongoing infrastructure projects.

“At lalaki pa 'yan. Magtutuloy-tuloy pa 'yan, sabi ko nga , ongoing ang ating imprastraktura dyan,” he added.

When Metro Manila shifted from enhanced community quarantine to general community quarantine, the government prepared for a calibrated and gradual resumption of public transport.
