Vico Sotto warns vs. email scam about distribution of food packs

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Wednesday warned the public against an email scam using the local government unit (LGU)’s name and his image.

In a tweet, Sotto said that an email circulating online regarding the distribution of the food packs for the city’s employees is not legitimate and did not come from the LGU.

The Pasig mayor pointed out that the email used a different address without the city government’s official domain @pasigcity.gov.ph.

He added that his photo does not appear in any correspondences relating to the distribution of goods and provision city’s services.

"Unang-una bawal gamitin ang mukha ko sa official correspondence ng LGU, haha," he said in the tweet.

“The City Government of Pasig reminds Pasigueños to always be vigilant and refrain from clicking the link provided as it may be part of the scheme to get personal information from the individuals,” the advisory added.

Sotto said for official announcements on the city’s cash aid or any form of “ayuda” distribution, Pasig residents should check the city's official public information Facebook page. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
