Nearly 400 locally stranded individuals provided transportation assistance — Palace

Close to 800 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) in Metro Manila have been transferred to the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, Malacañang said Monday.

As of Sunday, 379 out of the 764 stranded individuals staying at the Villamor Air Base Elementary School and the Philippine State College of Aeronautics have been given transportation assistance, according to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, citing a report from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

He also said 300 out of the 385 remaining LSIs were expected to leave Manila via airplane and ship. The trips were bound for Davao City and General Santos City.

Roque said the government has distributed hundreds of sanitary kits and sleeping kits to the LSIs, who had spent days outside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport while waiting for flights home. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
