Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. on Monday shared his firsthand experience of battling with COVID-19 as he livestreamed how he felt waking up alone and weakened by the disease.

"Giniginaw ako. Nagchi-chills ho ako. Ang hirap pala nito. Walang makatulong sa iyo, mag-isa ka," he said in a Facebook live video around 6 a.m.

"Ang hirap ng ganito hindi mo pwedeng asa-asahan ang pamilya mo, kahit mga tao mo. Ikaw lang ang puwede maka... You have to be responsible 'pag nagkaroon ka ng ganitong sakit," he said.

The fourth senator to contract the virus, Revilla said he has fever and a mild dry cough. He added that the skin around his face is sensitive and painful when touched.

Revilla filmed himself for almost ten minutes while under the sheets. He said he was taking lots of vitamins and medicines.

It was on Sunday that the senator announced he tested positive for COVID-1

Revilla said he thought at first that it was an allergy or just sore eyes.

"Noong nag-start ako parang may allergy sa mata ko namumula... akala ko sore eyes. Thursday talagang akala ko sore eyes talaga pero hindi," he said.

The senator said the opthalmologist who checked his eyes said the symptoms he was showing then could be that of COVID-19.

"Noong sinabi ng doktor 'yun, nag-isolate na rin ako kaagad tapos nagpa-swab ako," he said.

"Ang daming pagsubok na pinagdadaanan, kamamatay lang ng tatay ko pero if it's your time, it's your time... so I prayed last night bago ako matulog sabi ko nga, 'Lord total surrender ako sa'yo ever since, kayo po ang bahala sa akin. Alam kong 'di Ninyo ako pababayaan,'" he added.

Days before getting COVID-19, Revilla even joked that the virus is no match to his amulet after Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri had a false positive result on July 27.

"I just want to put on record na hindi ako natakot sa haching ni Majority Floor Leader. Hindi po ako tatablan niyan, may agimat ako, ipinamana na sa akin ng tatay ko," he said.

Revilla's colleagues who got infected and recovered from COVID-19 in previous months were Zubiri, Senators Sonny Angara and Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III. — RSJ, GMA News
