4 Delta variant cases in Camarines Norte quickly isolated — governor

By JOAHNA LEI CASILAO,GMA News

The four cases of the more contagious Delta variant in Camarines Norte were quickly isolated and were unable to spread the virus, Governor Edgardo Tallado said Tuesday.

Tallado previously said that the Delta variant may have caused the sudden increase in COVID-19 cases in the province.

Of the four cases, two were drivers, one was a saleslady, while one was from Albay.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said the Delta variant is now the most common lineage among sequenced samples of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines. The country has recorded 3,027 Delta cases.

Tallado said the province currently has 675 active cases. Camarines Norte is the second province in the Bicol Region with the least number of infections.

Despite this, the isolation beds in the region have reached full capacity, according to the governor.

[It’s the same situation for the district hospitals. One of the private hospitals has only one bed left available.]

Tallado, however, said that they are able to manage the situation.

[That’s true. I said that our hope lies in the border, the tightening of border measures because we put up an antigen testing there.]
