Google Chrome to allow users to organize tabs in color-coded groups

Here's some good news for neat freaks.

Google Chrome is now allowing its users to organize their tabs in color-coded groups.

In a blog post on Google

, UX Engineer for Chrome Edward Jung explained that this feature aims to help out users to be more organized whether you're a "tab minimalist," who chooses to have a few tabs open or a "tab collector" who chooses to have "significantly more" tabs open.

With a simple right click on the tab you can group them together and label them with name and assign a color for each category.

"Once the tabs are grouped together, you can move and reorder them on the tab strip," the blog read.

The feature should help you arrange your tabs by topic, categories, urgency, progress, or which ever way you want to arrange them.

"For instance, it helps if you're working on several projects, or looking through multiple shopping and review sites," the post read.

Google said some users have been grouping tabs on how urgent they are by labelling them as "ASAP," "this week," and "later."

"Similarly, tab groups can help keep track of your progress on certain tasks: 'haven’t started,' 'in progress,' 'need to follow up' and 'completed,'" the post read.

Jung gave a pretty nifty tip: use emojis as a group name. Perhaps a heart emoji for inspiration? The book emoji for articles to read, and so on.

"Tab groups are customizable so you can decide how to use them. And just like regular tabs, your groups are saved when you close and reopen Chrome," the Google blog read.

Currently, the feature is only available in Google Chrome Beta.

According to the blog post they are releasing the tab groups feature slowly in their upcoming version of Chrome which will start rolling out next week.
