Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) has called on its passengers departing Manila to head to the airport early on Thursday in light of the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

In an advisory, PAL said passengers should allot more time to head to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) given the road closures being implemented.

“Please expect high volume of vehicles passing by detour areas. We wish to remind you to leave your homes early to avoid missing your flight,” the carrier said.

“Roads near Malacañang and the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City will also be closed,” it added.

This comes as several roads remain closed to traffic until 11 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 — Padre Burgos Avenue, Finance Road, Maria Orosa Street from TM Kalaw to Padre Burgos, and General Luna Street from Padre Burgos to Muralla Street.

Ayala Boulevard and Victoria Street from Taft Avenue to Muralla Street are also closed on Thursday from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said it will deploy 2,000 personnel to man traffic on Thursday, aside from personnel from the Manila Police District, the National Capital Region Police Office, the City Government of Manila, and the Presidential Security Group to ensure security, peace, and order. —VBL, GMA News
