UST accepts resignation of Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo

The University of Santo Tomas has accepted the resignation of Aldin Ayo, who stepped down from his post as the head coach of men's basketball team amid the probe on the "Sorsogon bubble."

Assistant Coaches Mcjour Luib and Jinino Manansala are also effectively resigned, as of Saturday.

"The Thomasian community conveys its gratitude to them for their service to the University," UST's statement read.

"We wish them well in their future endeavors," it added.

Ayo had tendered his resignation on Friday, apologizing "those who have been adversely affected" by their team's activity.

"I take responsibility for my actions and shall face the appropriate sanctions. And I shall go for a personal Retreat," Ayo said.

Earlier, the Philippine Sports Commission and other government agencies looking into the alleged training bubble said they will submit their initial findings to the Department of Justice by Monday.

The controversy led to the departure of several UST players, including former team captain CJ Cansino, Brent Paraiso, Ira Bataller, Rhenz Abando, and Jun Asuncion.

Ayo handled UST since 2018 and led the España-based squad to the UAAP finals in Season 82, where they finished as runners-up. —JCB, GMA News
