CSB women's taekwondo captain encourages physical movement to avoid negativity amid pandemic | NCAA Philippines

With people dealing with restrictions of movement due to the coronavirus pandemic, many are finding it difficult to engage in physical activity, such as exercise.

Even our athletes are not spared from this dilemma.

Loralee Natividad, captain of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde women's taekwondo team, shared that she experienced this problem herself.

It took a change of mindset to solve her problem.

"When I realized that I think I was gaining weight or I am off-track from my usual routine, since then, that has been my motivation to change. I need to adapt to the current situation," Natividad said in Filipino in Chino Trinidad's '24 Oras' report on Friday.

The Cebu native is also applying one lesson she learned from playing taekwondo in surviving the pandemic.

"Just like in a game, you need to have defense. You should know when is the right time to attack or defend," she said.

Aside from this, Natividad, who dreams of being a pilot, also shared other lessons she learned from playing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) that helped her become a better athlete.

"Oneness of the team, that helped me a lot in the NCAA. Second, faith -- faith in your coaches, your team, yourself. Those helped me gain confidence as I conquer the challenges of every game," she said.
