NU outlasts Adamson in five-setter; Ateneo defeats UE in four sets

National University registered its second win in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament, but not before dropping two sets against a gutsy Adamson University squad, 25-22, 25-19, 25-27, 22-25, 15-10, on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Alyssa Solomon tallied 28 points, while Bella Belen had 23 points in NU's 20th straight win since Season 82.

Kate Santiago had 20 points, while Trisha Tubu had 16 points in the Adamson loss.

Ateneo de Manila University, on the other hand, defeated University of the East in a four-setter, 25-17, 25-23, 24-26, 25-10.

Faith Nisperos had 14 points, while Geezel Tsunashima stepped up and made 13 points. Vannie Gandler also added 14 points.

Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas barged into the win column after sweeping Far Eastern University, 25-16, 28-26, and 25-21. Eya Laure tallied 17 points for the Golden Tigresses.

De La Salle University, on the other hand, swept University of the Philippines, 25-14, 25-20, 25-14, for their second straight win in the season.

UAAP action will return on Saturday with the men's and women's teams of FEU and AdU facing each other in the first two games, while teams from NU and UST will battle each other in the afternoon.
