La Salle remains undefeated with sweep of Ateneo; UP barges into win column at UE's expense

De La Salle University swept Ateneo de Manila University, 25-16, 25-20, 25-13, to remain undefeated in the UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

This was the Lady Spikers' 11th straight victory against the Blue Eagles, with the last Ateneo win over La Salle back on April 8, 2017 during the second round elimination of Season 79.

Rookie Angel Canino again stood out for the Taft-based squad with 23 points, while Jolina dela Cruz had 13 points to improve their standings to 3-0.

Faith Nisperos led the Katipunan side with 11 points.

Earlier, University of the Philippines barged into the win column at the expense of University of the East, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20.

On the men's side, La Salle also swept Ateneo, 25-18, 33-31, 25-22, while UE defeated UP, 19-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-22.

UAAP action will return on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
