PNP registers 376 new COVID-19 cases among personnel

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday registered 376 new COVID-19 infections among its personnel, bringing its COVID-19 tally to 43,113.

According to the latest PNP data, the total number of active cases stood at 1,225.

The PNP also reported one personnel recovered from the disease, bringing the recovery tally to 41,763.

The number of deaths among PNP personnel remained at 125.

under Alert Level 4 if the current protocols fail to prevent the increase in COVID-19 cases.

PNP chief Police General Dionardo Carlos said police were prepared for the recalibration of deployment and strategies.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases has raised Alert Level 3 in the 14 cities and provinces effective from January 9 up to 15, while the National Capital Region (NCR) was also placed under Alert Level 3 from January 3 to 15 due to the steep increase in COVID-19 cases over the past days.

Under Alert Level 3, establishments will be allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity only for fully vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity, provided that all employees are fully vaccinated.

Face-to-face classes, contact sports, funfairs or perya, and casinos are among the activities and establishments that are prohibited under Alert Level 3. -- Richa Noriega/BAP, GMA News
