DOH logs 356 new COVID-19 cases; active tally down to 38K

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 356 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of active infections in the country to 38,320.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the total caseload stood at 3,678,598, which includes 3,580,980 recoveries and 59,298 deaths. A day earlier, the total number of active cases was 39,315

The top regions with cases in the past two weeks were the National Capital Region with 1,659, followed by Region 4-A with 636 and Region 6 with 473.

The DOH said 22,434 individuals were tested while 318 testing laboratories submitted data as of March 31.

Earlier in the day, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire announced that 65.9 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or 73% of the target population.

Around 71.2 million people have received at least one dose while 12 million have received booster shots.

Among the pediatric population, 933,000 are now fully vaccinated while 8.9 million of the adolescent population have been inoculated against COVID-19. —VBL, GMA News
