OVP warns vs. fake Angat Buhay Twitter account

The Office of Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday warned supporters against getting information from Twitter account Angat Buhay New Government under username @NewGovOrgABF, saying this account is not connected with Robredo's office.

"Hindi po konektado sa Office of the Vice President o kay VP Leni Robredo ang Twitter account na "Angat Buhay New Government" o @NewGovOrgABF. Wala pong katotohanan ang mga lumalabas sa account na ito, na ang malinaw na layunin ay manlinlang at magpakalat ng maling impormasyon,"  the OVP said in a statement posted on  Facebook.

(The OVP and VP Robredo are not connected with the Angat Buhay New Government [Twitter account]. Posts from this account are false, and it is clear that its goal is to peddle lies.)

Robredo's office then called on its supporters to check VP Robredo's verified Facebook page for official announcements and be vigilant against fake news.

Maraming salamat po (Let us be vigilant and discerning on information peddled online)," it added.

Robredo, who is trailing big in partial and unofficial count for the presidential race, earlier said she will focus her energy on fighting disinformation and will establish Angat Buhay NGO that will help those in need by July 1 or a day after her term ends.

Disimpormasyon ang isa sa pinakamalaki nating kalaban," Robredo said in her speech during a thanksgiving gathering with her supporters last May 13.

— Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
