Sara Duterte prays there will be presidential election in 2028

Vice President Sara Duterte has expressed hope that there will be a presidential election in 2028 and it will be conducted in an honest, orderly, and peaceful manner.

In an interview in The Hague, Netherlands on Monday, Duterte said she is already a “presumptive candidate” for the next presidential race after declaring her intention to run.

“I'm already a presumptive candidate because I declared my intention to run for the next presidential elections,” Duterte said.

“We can only pray that there will be a presidential election in 2028 and it will be honest, orderly, and peaceful,” she added.

She made the statement when asked if she is ready to be the next president.

'Eager for next elections'

In reaction to the Vice President's remarks, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said Duterte's statements showed that she is eager for the next elections.

''Kitang-kita niyo naman na habang sumasagot ang bise presidente ay nangingiti siya. Siguro kahit siya ay natatawa sa sarili niyang sagot. Unang-una po, nakikita rin natin ang kasabikan ng bise-presidente na pagusapan ang halalan sa 2028 samantalang ang Pangulo ay abala sa pagaayos ng anumang epekto ng krisis sa Middle East,'' she said.

(As you can see, the Vice President was smiling when she answered. Maybe she also found her answers amusing. We can also see the eagerness of the vice president when it comes to the 2028 elections while the president is busy working to address the crisis in the Middle East.)

Castro said the answers of the Vice President would show that she is only fond of intrigues, adding that her remarks had no basis.

''Ito ba ay parang like father, like daughter?

(Was it similar to 'like father, like daughter?' We all know that former president Duterte admitted before that he's an expert in making intrigues and of planting evidence. So these answers from the Vice President were intrigues, stories which have no basis.)

In February, Duterte announced that she will run for president in the 2028 national elections.

Senator Raffy Tulfo tied Duterte at 46 percentage points in a Pulse Asia presidential preference poll that pitted the two officials against each other from February 27 to March 2.

Results of a similar question that matched Duterte with Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo showed the Vice President leading her predecessor, 51 to 43. — with Anna Felicia Bajo/AOL/RSJ, GMA News
