Disaster response and police teams in Bataan were deployed Friday evening to help distressed residents in Dinalupihan town as flooding hit several neighborhoods amid heavy rains.

The Bataan provincial police dispatched rescuers starting 7:30 p.m. in Barangay San Pablo, where flood waters rose as high as six to seven feet due to a river that overflowed.

Video posted by the Bataan police showed personnel with safety gear wading through chest-deep waters while holding on to a rope at a flooded area.

"No casualty was reported as responders swiftly assisted affected residents to safety," the Bataan police said.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) posted before midnight Saturday images of people in Barangay Pinulot being assisted onto the back of a large truck.

In a monitoring update on Facebook as of 8:10 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., the Dinalupihan municipal government reported flooding that affected transport in the following areas:

  • Palad Padre Dandan — not passable for small vehicles
  • Pita Tunnel — 24 inches of flood water; not passable to all vehicles
