Tropical Storm Krovanh to reenter PAR Sunday, may enhance Habagat — PAGASA

Tropical Storm Krovanh (formerly Pilandok) is expected to reenter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday and enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), PAGASA said Saturday afternoon.

Krovanh, which exited the PAR on Thursday, was located 810 kilometers northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon, or over the coastal waters of Okinawa, Japan, as of 4 p.m. Saturday.

Moving southeastward at 25 km/h, Krovanh had maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.

PAGASA said Krovanh will regain the local name Pilandok once it reenters the PAR, which is expected between Sunday morning and early afternoon.

"Landfall over the country remains unlikely and this disturbance is not expected to directly affect the weather or sea conditions over the next 3 days. However, it may continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat over Luzon and Visayas in the coming days," PAGASA said.

Krovanh is forecast to remain a tropical storm until Monday, when it is expected to exit the PAR, before weakening into a tropical depression by Tuesday. — VBL, GMA News
