'Green Bones' star Ruru Madrid wins at 53rd Box Office Entertainment Awards

Kapuso star Ruru Madrid takes home another honor for his powerful performance in the award-winning film Green Bones.
Adding to the movie's growing list of accolades, Ruru was awarded Movie Supporting Actor of the Year at the 53rd Box Office Entertainment Awards by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (GMMSFI). He shared the recognition with fellow actor Joross Gamboa.
Overflowing with gratitude, Ruru took to Instagram to reflect on the meaningful journey behind the film.
"Sa bawat proyektong ginagawa natin, laging may kasamang sakripisyo, hirap, at panalangin," he captioned on Instagram. "Ang Green Bones ay hindi lang isang pelikula para sa akin--isa itong paalala na sa bawat laban sa buhay, may dahilan, may aral, at may pagkakataon para piliin nating maging mabuting tao."
The Kapuso star dedicated the award to the entire Green Bones team, including award-winning director Zig Dulay, National Artist Ricky Lee, screenplay writer Anj Atienza, and the supportive GMA officials.
"Para sa akin, ang award na ito ay hindi lang simbolo ng tagumpay. Ito ay paalala: na sa bawat laban, sa bawat pagkakataon, dapat piliin nating magsilbi, magmahal, at magbigay-inspirasyon," he added.
"Para sa lahat ng nangangarap: Hindi aksidente ang pangarap mo. Hindi hadlang ang hirap, takot, at pagkatalo. Ang mahalaga--patuloy kang magsikap, magpakumbaba, at magbigay ng mabuting halimbawa para sa maraming tao."
Ruru's post quickly drew praise from fans and celebrities alike. Including Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, and Jerald Napoles, who flooded the comments with congratulations.
Ruru portrayed Xavier Gonzaga, a newly recruited prison guard determined to keep Domingo Zamora (played by Dennis Trillo) behind bars at all costs. His gripping performance previously also earned him the Best Supporting Actor award at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Green Bones is now streaming on Netflix, where it continues to earn praise from audiences and critics alike.
