Princess Velasco's advice to new musicians: 'Do it because you want to put your heart out'
November 19 2021
OPM acoustic sweetheart Princess Velasco has been in the music industry for quite some time, and she has some wise tips for people trying to make it big in the music scene.
During her recent Kapuso Brigade Zoomustahan, Princess shared, "Ang hirap maging singer ngayon, lalo na 'yung mga bago pa lang. Ang daming mga bagong singers and mga matatagal na, due to the fast-paced industry of the music industry and entertainment industry in general, and because of the many channels we can release our content. So, ang hirap mag-breakthrough and mag-rise above, sa dinami-dami ng mga ni-re-release na kanta ang hirap ma-notice.”
She continued, "Ang advice ko lang sa mga mag-sa-start pa lang, do it without expectation na dapat sumikat ka, kasi hindi ka pa nagsisimula, pine-pressure mo na 'yung sarili mo. Do it because you want to put your heart out. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.
The Kapuso singer also shared she'll be making music regardless of the fame. "Ang music kasi parte na siya ng buhay ko, habang buhay ko, hangga't kaya ko I will keep making music. So, I'm just very fortunate na I'm staying with GMA Music and I'm given the opportunity to commercially produce, sing, record, and release this song.”
Princess added, "When the time comes na wala na akong label or matatanda na mga anak ko...I will still keep singing or making music. Kahit may pandemic o wala, it is part of who I am."
Meanwhile, her latest single "Ang Ating Pag-ibig" has just been released under GMA Music. The single has reached Spotify Philippines' New Music Friday playlist and debuted strong on iTunes at number three spot.
