The Department of Tourism (DOT) in Eastern Visayas launched the first Tourist Rest Area in the region in a groundbreaking ceremony held in Inopacan town, Province of Leyte.
According to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Eastern Visayas, the ceremony on June 17, 2025, included the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement by DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Leyte 5th District Representative Carl Nicolas Cari, and other government officials representing the province.
“The tourist rest area features a free shower room, free charging station, rest room, and a Pasalubong Center. It generally aims to provide a safe and comfortable space for travelers to rest and manage their needs during their trip,” the report read.
The Tourist Rest Area is located beside the baywalk to also “serve as waiting area for tourists as they await for their boat ride to Cuatro Islas nearby," the report added.
