Officials of Barangay Anolid in Mangaldan, Pangasinan raise concerns after two consecutive theft incidents involving joggers were reported in their area last week.

The first incident happened on the evening of October 16, 2025, when victims parked their motorcycle under a tree before going for a jog. Upon returning, they discovered that their wallets and other valuables had been stolen.

“Regular joggers sila from Barangay Pantal sa Dagupan City. Nakauwi na sila then kukunin ‘yung gamit nila sa motor, wala na,” Barangay Anolid Chairperson Marissa Honsayco said.

Just a day later, another theft took place at the same location.

“Nasa barangay hall kami tapos may nagrereklamo na naman. Pareho din ang reklamo — nag-park sila tapos pag-uwi sa bahay, wala na gamit nila,” Honsayco added.

The barangay council has launched an investigation and coordinated with the Mangaldan police.

Officials suspect that the thief may be a resident of Anolid, targeting only outsiders, as no local joggers have reported any theft.

Mangaldan Police Chief PLtCol. Perlito Tuayon said they have increased patrols to prevent similar incidents.

“Isa sa task natin especially dito sa Mangaldan, ‘yung police visibility. ‘Yung police presence, kailangan talaga maramdaman ng tao,” Tuayon said.

Authorities reminded the public to stay alert and safeguard their belongings, especially during the “ber” months when theft cases usually increase.
