A Cebuano clinched the Number 1 spot of the April 2024 Physicians Licensure Examination.

Dr. Christopher Niño Duane Camay Mendoza, a graduate from Matias H. Aznar Memorial Medical College in Cebu City, topped the licensure exam with a rating of 89.25 percent.

Verily it was a back-to-back feat for the Mendoza family.

His wife, Dr. Glennette Aldanica Alburo Mendoza, also passed the said exam he describes to be one of his srongest inspirations along with their child.

Dr. Mendoza is the only Cebuano who made it to the Top 10.

In an interview, Mendoza said the achievement has not sunk in yet. He said it is hard to believe he made it fthis ar - and far up indeed to the zenith - as difficulties abound while he was taking the exam.

The couple is grateful to their family and friends, and to their fellow worshippers of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for all-out support to their aspirations.

Dr. Mendoza attributes his success to his professors as well who have helped him grow in knowledge and wisdom.

According to Dr. Allan Librando, dean of the College of Medicine, and Dr. Arlene Diaz, MHAM president, Mendoza broke the school’s seven-year drought to the rosters of topnotch exam passers.

Mendoza is welcomed warmly by college officials upon his return to his Alma Mater.

Mendoza said he commits to serve, aside from his family, the people in the country as a way of paying the opportunity and the honor forward.

He said he would also impart his knowledge and skills to more medical students at MHAM.  As he was expressing this, he was offered a teaching stint at the College of Medicine.
