With ties and all, 15 examinees emerged superior and made the list of topnotchers in the recent Civil Engineer Licensure Examination (CELE), nine of which represent schools that hail from the regions.

PRIDE OF THE REGIONS

On April 26, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the full results of the first of two annual civil engineering board exams, with nine of the 15 headliners coming from schools in the regions bannered by Gwyneth Hermoso and Arexcin Ray Timbal, both tied at third overall.

Gwyneth is from the Eastern Visayas State University in Tacloban, Leyte, while Arexcin is a product of Bohol Island State University in Tagbiliran. They both scored an impressive 93.60 exam rating.

They are followed by Marvin Ballecer, the pride of Camarines Sur Polytechnic College - Nabua, who tallied a 93.20% score.

Jonash Aldrin Juntong of Cebu Technological University - Main placed fifth overall, tied with a University of Santo Tomas graduate, after scoring 92.25%. Jonash is joined on the list by fellow CTU-Main graduate Renz Greg Ducay, who ranked tenth (91.85%).

Quezon Province’ Francise Angelo Quilatan of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Lopez ranked sixth with a score of 92.90%.

Two graduates from the Cebu Institute of Technology - University landed spots on the list – eighth-ranked Michael Lyndon Chua (91.95%) and tenth-placer Lennon Gabrielle Francisco (91.85%).

University of Saint Louis - Tuguegarao alumnus Carlos Brylle Artates placed ninth with a 91.90% score.

DLSU MANILA PRODUCES TWO TOPNOTCHERS

Top-performing school De La Salle University - Manila, with an impressive passing rate of 90.32% (84 out of 93), produced this year’s two topnotchers. La Salle graduates Ryan Sylvester Chan and Cedric Jerome Donguines share the top spot after scoring an even 94.30%. 

A LaSallian examinee in Garret Wilkenson Ching Sia also topped last year’s CELE results in April.

The 2024 licensure exam for civil engineers saw a 39.27% national passing rate (6,680 passers out of 17,010 takers), a slight increase from the 33.26% passing rate during the November 2023 board exams.
