Dagupan City is preparing for its annual Bangusan Street Party “Kalutan ed Dalan” on Thursday, April 30, 2026, with thousands of residents and tourists expected to join one of the highlights of the city’s Bangus Festival.
The celebration will stretch along De Venecia Highway Extension and feature seven concert stages, around 500 tents, more than 1,000 grilling stations and about 20,000 pieces of bangus, or milkfish, the city’s signature product.
Mayor Belen Fernandez said the event is designed as a large community gathering centered on food, music and family.
“Let’s enjoy our party! This is more on the party kasi eh. Of course, we have the bangus!” Fernandez said.
“Bring more food and enjoy with your family!” she added.
While bangus remains the main attraction, organizers said visitors are also free to bring and grill other food during the event, as long as everyone joins in the celebration.
City officials are expecting a surge of tourists, saying the festival also supports local businesses and vendors.
“If we bring in tourists sa Dagupan po, magbe-benefit po ang ating local community, ating mga vendors po. Lahat ‘yan may ripple effect po kasi ang turismo sa ating bayan. Everybody happy!” Sharon Maramba, Dagupan City tourism officer, said.
Police said security measures are already in place, with around 500 police officers and force multipliers set to be deployed across the venue.
“Pickpockets incident. Sa dami ng tao baka may possible stampede. ‘Yun ang babantayan natin,” Police Colonel Arnold Solomon, director of the Dagupan City Police Office, said.
Fernandez said the city’s famous bangus remains the star of the celebration.
“’Pag igi-grill mo ‘yan, malalasahan mo ‘yung taba. The soft meat of bangus. ‘Pag niluluto mo ang Bangus Dagupan sa grill, ang bango. Malayo pa, maaamoy mo na talaga,” she said.
“’Yung bangus namin is the tastiest sa buong mundo,” she added.
