The country's one and only ‘Megastar’ Sharon Cuneta has given life to as many characters as anybody can ever imagine, and a number of her award-winning portrayals had featured compelling narratives that explore the values of the Filipino family.

And yet when asked why she’s uniquely excited about Honor Thy Mother, a family drama series which she stars alongside Kapuso Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza, Sharon could only utter ‘Iba!’

In a story conference for the upcoming GMA Network and ABS-CBN Studios collaboration held last Friday, a palpably giddy and excited Megastar was in attendance, sharing smiles as she faced members of the media together with her Honor Thy Mother co-cast members.

In a 24 Oras report by Nelson Canlas, the veteran actress hailed what she described as an “impressive” story, which according to her was made more exciting by the fact that she would co-star with GMA Network’s Barbie Forteza.

“I got excited. But first it was really the story that was presented to me and it was over Zoom. So meeting sila, they were all in the conference room and there was a presentation like slides in it. So I was impressed, I like the story. Tapos nalaman kong si Barbie [Forteza], what an opportunity!” she said.

She echoed this sentiment in a post-story conference interview with GMA Regional TV, saying while she’s done a number of mother-daughter movies in the past, Honor Thy Mother promises a different attack.

“I’ve done mother-daughter relationship movies, pero isang roller coaster ride ito (Honor Thy Mother), lahat ng character may pinagdadaanan,” Sharon said.

“Hindi ‘to yung usual na mother and daughter drama– iba! I am very excited about kasi iba– for me, bago,” she added.

The story-con officially introduced some of the stellar cast that will join the Megastar and the Kapuso Primetime Princess in the Dreamscape-produced series, such as John Estrada, Tonton Gutierrez, RK Bagasting, Mercedes Cabral, and Khalil Ramos.

Sharon also had a simple message on how we should treat our mothers, as the event fortuitously occurred two days before Mothers’ Day.

“Lahat tayo may nanay. Bago mahuli ang lahat, sana matuto tayo at marealize natin na kailangan natin ipaalam at iparamdam sa kanila as often as possible kung gaano natin sila kamahal,” the Megastar said.
