The Lizares-Gamboa Mansion in the District of Jaro, Iloilo City has been declared by the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) as an Important Cultural Property. The recognition means that the property possesses exceptional cultural, artistic, and historical significance.

A marker was installed on the west wing of the mansion on March 13, 2024.

The house owned by Don Emiliano Lizares was built in 1937 and was sold to the Dominican congregation in 1962 that later on became the home of Angelicum School Iloilo since 1978.

Representatives from NMP and the University of Santo Tomas (UST) graced the program.

Article III Section 5 of Republic Act 10066, that provides for the protection and conservation of national cultural heritage, safeguards a cultural property against exportation, modification, or demolition.

The law stipulates that no cultural property shall be sold, resold, or taken out of the country without first securing a clearance from the cultural agency concerned. In case the property shall be taken out of the country, it shall solely be for the purpose of scientific scrutiny or exhibit.

Meanwhile, a state-of-the-art library at UST-Angelicum School Iloilo was also opened to the public.

One of the goals of the school administration is to open the library to researchers and students from other schools.
