A man hooked a sea turtle accidentally while fishing in the waters off Barangay Salvacion, Sto. Domingo, Albay.

"Sorry, hindi ko yan sinasadya, tatanggalin lang natin yung hook mo ah,” Miguel Bandagosa, the man who caught the turtle, can be heard in his video as he removed the hook.

According to Bandagosa, he noticed a strong tug on his line and when he pulled it, he saw the hook lodged in the turtle’s flipper.

It took nearly 15 minutes for Bandagosa to remove the hook carefully from the turtle. Once done, he released the turtle back into the ocean.

“Nung nakita ko na okay na nga 'yun [na pawikan], medyo malakas and nakakapaglangoy siya ng maayos, so I decided to release [it], but before that, nag-isip sana ako na humingi na sana ng tulong sa authorities kasi nga medyo nahirapan nga ako dun sa pagtanggal ng hook,” Bandagosa said.

Bandogasa reminded the public, especially those engaged in activities that may harm wildlife, to protect sea turtles and other wildlife and, if necessary, report such incidents to authorities.
