Several illegal structures that blocked the roads in downtown Cagayan de Oro were demolished and confiscated while drivers of cars parked in ‘no parking’ areas were issued with citation tickets.

Members of the Task Group Demolition cleared the roads in Barangays 22, 23, 25, and 26 of illegal structures and obstructions, including the stalls of sidewalk vendors.

The local government said these structures and obstructions have caused the heavy traffic.

“Isa pud nga gatan-awon dili sab malimtan ang downtown area kay naa man diri ang pagtipok sa kadaghanan sa katawhan. So at least mabati pud sa atong katawhan nga naa’y improvement so ang ato ani continuing ang information and enforcement campaign,” Task Group Demolition Chief, Antonio Resma, said.

The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) also issued at least 13 citation tickets to drivers of unattended vehicles parked in areas not intended for parking.

The demolition team added that surprise inspections in all city roads will continue.

“Sa publiko dili na nato hulatan nga kita pa maagian pa nato sa atoang clearing team kundili kung nakita nato nga naa ta’y violations voluntary nato i-correct ug i-observe nato ang mga pertinent laws and ordinances,” Resma said.

The city government is also mulling of creating a city road clearing team that will focus on roads in downtown area.
