Two died in separate incidents of electrocution in Abra and Lipa City, Batangas.

In Barangay Namarabar, Peñarrubia, Abra, 40-year-old Conrado Mina died after being electrocuted in the middle of a field in Barangay Namarabar, Peñarrubia, Abra.

Mina was supposed to dig for water when he reportedly touched a metal pipe accidentally.

Danilo Gonzales, the victim’s father-in-law, believes that the pipe came into contact with an electric line nearby.

“Dayta ngamin kuryente, iw-iwasak a masagid ngamin dayta, isu nga aggapu ti daya wenno amianan koma… mabalin a naiyabay da ngata,” Gonzales said.

Rodrigo Rique, a companion of the victim, said, however, that they did not notice any pipe. He said that if there are pipes in the area, they might have been buried.

Mina was rushed to the hospital but he passed away.

The concern on the electric line has been reported to authorities.

BATANGAS INCIDENT

In Lipa City, Batangas, a 37-year-old male construction worker was found dead in his barracks located in a subdivision.

The police said it was the victim's co-worker who found him dead, and reported the same immediately to authorities.

Authorities suspect that the victim might have been electrocuted.

“Base doon sa kinahihigaan niya, malapit sa kamay niya, [may] naka-expose doon [na] isang plug ng grinder na ginagamit nila sa construction, and [meron] yun [na] parang artificial cut doon sa wire para i-tap sana yung plug nung grinder,” PCPT. Ricardo Cuevas, the Chief Investigator of Lipa City Component Police Station, said.

“Based sa aming assessment, doon siya nagkaroon ng contact, doon sa open wire na supposed to be pagkakabitan niya noong plug ng grinder,” Cuevas added.

The victim was not taken to the hospital.

As of this writing, the victim's remains are in a funeral home in the city and are scheduled for autopsy.

The police said there have been discussions between the victim's family and the construction site foreman regarding the burial expenses.

Cuevas advise workers and residents:

“Kung alam naman po natin na hindi tayo sigurado or walang bakanteng plug doon sa ating mga pagagawan, or kung tayo ay may nakikita na mga open wire, sabihin na agad ito sa ating lisensyadong electrician para ma-fix na agad at maiwasan ang ganitong insidente,” he said.
