Police in Cebu City are determined to file charges against a 42-year-old man for reportedly taking hostage his own family in Barangay Tisa.

The man was earlier reported to have taken hostage his wife and two children inside their house.

According to the authorities, the suspect used his family to shield him from a person allegedly out to kill him.

While he was at the detention cell of Station 10 of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), he said he regrets taking hostage his own family.

The man turned himself in to Police Major Eraño Regidor, chief of Station 10, after a negotiation. The wife and the children are safe from harm.

The suspect was first taken to the hospital before he was detained.

The suspect admitted to three nights of sleeplessness after using illegal drugs.

Police reports mentioned that the suspect was on hallucination as an effect of his intake of illegal drugs.

It was learned that the suspect had previously taken hostage another person.

Though the family expressed disinterest in pursuing a case, the policemen are determined to file the charges against the suspect.
