The scorching heat has caused several deep wells Mangaldan, Pangasinan to dry up, leaving residents without access to water.

The barangays affected include Maasin, Lanas, and Embarcadero where seven deep wells are located.

Some residents even traveled long distances to fetch water, only to find out the water they collect is no longer clean.

Because of this, Salvacion Mangapot, a resident, said they had to have their one water connection installed.

“Kagaya namin, malayo ang iigiban namin ng tubig, tapos ‘yung tubig na iniigib doon marumi na rin, kaya nagpakabit na kami ng tubig,” Mangapot said.

The Mangaldan Water District (MAWAD) said they are accepting applications for those interested in getting water connections.

MAWAD aims to establish pumping stations in each barangay to address the water shortage issue.
