The two policemen allegedly involved in the killing of a police captain in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte are facing murder and administrative charges.

Two of the five suspects encountered by Police Captain Rolando Moralde have turned themselves in. Authorities are pursuing the three others.

”Administrative case, yung hahawak nito is yung Regional Internal Affairs natin dito sa PRO-BAR,” Cabugwang added.

Moralde reportedly tried to frisk a man who was observed to be carrying a short firearm at a public market on May 2, 2024, which resulted in a confrontation and exchange of fire. The man identified as Mohiden Ramalan Untal was killed for allegedly fighting back.

A few minutes later, Moralde engaged five other suspects, including the two policemen who were said to be relatives of Untal. Moralde died after sustaining 20 gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

“Two out of 5 na-identify natin sila na men-in-uniform, mga tropa natin.

Authorities said witnesses have already coordinated with the investigators for the arrest of the three suspects at large.

Meanwhile, the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) has bestowed posthumous award to Moralde.

Moralde’s family received the Medalya ng Kadakilaan, the highest recognition given by the PNP, which symbolizes the remarkable service and sacrifice of a personnel who went above and beyond the call of duty.
