Residential power rate in Davao City is expected to go down by almost P3 in June 2024.

The Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) will implement a decrease in residential electricity rate of P2.82 per kilowatt hour (kWh). This is for the June 11 to July 11 billing period.

From P10.7608/kWh in May 2024, it will go down to P7.9372/kWh in June. Therefore, a household that consumes 200 kilowatt hours per month can save P564.72.

The decrease in power rate is in compliance with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) order.

“…which mandates all distribution utilities to collect generation charges from the May billing of the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) on a staggered basis, evenly divided from June 2024 to September 2024,” DLPC Reputation Enhancement Department Head, Fermin Edillon, said.

However, DLPC said generation rates are expected to increase in the next three months due to the staggered payment of WESM charges.

“In effect, we have lower generation rates for June but from July to September, we expect high generation rates due to the staggered payment of WESM charges,” Edillon added.

DLPC urged all power consumers to manage their energy consumption and use electricity wisely to avoid high electricity bills.
