Residents of Ilio-Ilio in Burgos, Pangasinan were shocked to find the lower half of a man’s body washed ashore in the barangay.

The remains, visible in a cell phone video, were seen being battered by strong waves.

According to the police, the remains were that of a body of a man wearing blue pants and a green belt.

In a follow-up operation, authorities identified the deceased as a resident of Sual, Pangasinan who had been missing for several days. The belt, reportedly a gift from his child, helped confirm his identity.

The police continue to investigate the case and are working to locate the missing parts, as of this writing.

“Ongoing pa ang ating investigation as of today. Wala silang parang alam na motibo ng pagkawala niya at  kung anong nangyari sa kanya,” PLT. Reggie Fernandez, Deputy Chief of the Burgos Police Station, said.
