The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Mangaldan, Pangasinan has posted the names of over 100 deceased voters at their office.

These individuals passed away between October 2024 and January 2025.

The move aims to prevent their names from being used in the upcoming elections.

“Para hindi na sila mabotohan pa o hindi na ‘yan makaboto since patay na sila,” Gloria Cadiente, the election officer of COMELEC-Mangaldan, said.

Voters in the area agree that removing the names of deceased individuals from the official voters’ list is necessary.

“Mahirap ‘yan, iligal ‘yan. Pinipeke nila ang boto, hindi puwede ‘yan,” Junior Cereno, a resident, said.

Meanwhile, preparations for the 2025 midterm elections are underway.

Election officers from Region 1 are set to undergo training next week.

“Eventually after ng training namin, isusunod na namin ang support staff,” Cadiente said.

After their training, technical support staff and members of the electoral board will also undergo similar preparations to ensure a smooth election process.
