The National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL)-Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental chapter has corrected its earlier report on voter turnout in Misamis Oriental in the May 12, 2025 national and local elections.

In a press release, NAMFREL clarified that its initial report, which cited a 51 percent voter turnout in Misamis Oriental, was based on partial and early data from selected municipalities and did not reflect the full picture.

The figure was released prematurely on May 13 and has since been updated.

NAMFREL said after the receipt and consolidation of additional election returns, the final voter turnout in the province was 85.88 percent, which represent 950,046 voters out of 1,106,297 registered voters.

“We recognize the importance of timely and accurate reporting, and we remain committed to upholding the principles of transparency and integrity in our electoral monitoring work,” NAMFREL said.

“We extend our gratitude to our volunteers, field personnel, and partners for their tireless efforts and commitment to delivering credible and reliable information. We also thank the public for their understanding and continued support,” it added.
